African Teams in Action Pursuing AFCON 2025 Qualification

Matchdays 3 and 4 of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers kicked off this Thursday, promising plenty of excitement over the next five days. Major clashes between African nations are scheduled between 10 and 15 October 2024.

The qualification for AFCON 2025 features 48 African nations, divided into 12 groups, each with four teams. The top two teams from each group qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations, also known as AFCON.

In the qualifying phase, the teams play each other in a home-and-away format, resulting in a total of six matches per team.

Matchdays 1 and 2 were held in September 2024, and now we head into matchdays 3 and 4 of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

After this week’s matches, only two more matchdays will remain, to be played in November 2024, when we will finally know the 24 nations qualified for the championship in the following year.

The 2025 African Cup of Nations will take place between 21 December 2025 and 18 January 2026, with Morocco as the host of this edition.
