Crystal Palace v Manchester City: Preview of this year's FA Cup final

Crystal Palace will match up against Manchester City in this year’s FA Cup final. The match will take place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 17 May, 16:30 KO.

We expect this game to be action packed as the two meetings between these sides this term have accumulated 11 goals. The most recent fixture saw a dominant display from City, where they dismantled Palace 5-2 and looked back to their best.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the final, from recent form to our prediction!

⚽ Recent form

Palace come into this final in decent form, as they have not lost in their last five games in all competitions. However, prior to this they conceded five goals in two consecutive games. This is a fair representation of how the Eagles have performed throughout this season, as they have been up and down in terms of their form. Eberechi Eze has been in electric form in recent times, where he scored five goals in his last four games in all competitions.

City have had a season below their usual standards, however they have turned their form around lately. Pep Guardiola’s side are now unbeaten in their last 10 matches, where they have won eight of those. With all the noise about how bad City have been this term, it would certainly silence the haters if they can win the FA Cup and secure Champions League football for next term. Erling Haaland’s return from injury is a major boost for City, as he has found the back of the net 30 times in 40 games in all competitions this campaign.

⚽ Our Prediction

Oliver Glasner’s side will be entering their first major final since 2016. Whilst it is quite the opposite for City who have reached the final of the FA Cup in the last three campaigns, and won two of them.

Palace have put up some impressive displays in big matches this term. No more than when they defeated a strong Aston Villa side 3-0 in the semi-final of the FA Cup. Whilst City are looking back to their best with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne looking like the player the faithful know and love.

With the form of the two sides, this final is set to be a great spectacle for the neutral. We predict that City will have too much quality for Palace in this one, and come away as 2-1 winners in a tightly-contested affair.
